Supervision
I offer supervision to psychotherapists, counsellors and trainees, in person in London or online.
About my supervision
My background is existential and phenomenological, which mostly means I’m interested in what’s actually happening between you and your client, and what it stirs in you. I’d rather stay close to that than run the case against a model. Supervision is its own piece of work, and I try to give it the attention it deserves: somewhere to think out loud, to say the things that don’t quite make it into your case notes, and to keep your practice honest with itself.
Who I work with
- Qualified therapists and counsellors who want ongoing supervision
- Trainees on placement, including those who need the supervised hours for accreditation
- Individuals, or small groups
- Practitioners with an interest in existential work, sex and sexuality, or psychedelic integration
How I supervise
I pay close attention to the therapeutic relationship: what your client is doing with you, what you’re doing with them, what gets pulled out of you that you weren’t expecting. There’s room for your own development too. The cases that get under your skin, the bits you notice yourself avoiding. Ethics and accountability matter, but I try not to let them eat the whole hour. Often the most useful thing I can offer is a question. Sometimes it’s just sitting with you while you work something out.
Credentials
I’m a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and have been supervising for three years. I haven’t done a formal supervision training. What I bring instead is years of therapy work with a wide range of clients and presentations, plus a real interest in the questions the work raises. If your training body or accreditation requires a formally trained supervisor, I’m probably not the right fit.
Psychedelic integration supervision
If you have clients getting ready for psychedelic experiences, or trying to make sense of them afterwards, this is territory I know well. My PhD is in this area and there still aren’t many supervisors who can sit with the specifics of it. More on the psychedelics + psychotherapy page.
